Water and its wild life piece

Mola type depiction of a sea horse set on a painted watery background. I so enjoyed making this piece, it was actually the first one of this series of 4. I had no idea what fabrics/colours I would use, it just evolved.

Irene MacWilliam - Water- 2016

This is the second of my pieces for this year. I have not got the images of the others ready for posting. I have taken the theme of water with wild life that  lives in or nearby. I used the empress mills cotton  fabric one gets in their bargain bundles for the water and used setacolor and dye-na-flo paints for the watery effect. All four pieces will have slightly different colouration of the water as they will all be done as one off pieces when needed.
For the creatures I was looking at mola applique but mine are stacked as opposed to being cut back to. Free machine work and quilting.

Exhibit in St. Cloud

The exhibit in St. Cloud was a success. The quilts from both Voyage and Stitched were next to each other in the special exhibit area and attracted a lot of attention. Some of the comments which were written down were:
- Favorite exhibit of show!
- Gorgeous! Favorite? Can't pick just one
- Wonderful and inspiring
- Awesome!
- Simply beautiful, over the top
- Lovely! Such creative people!
It was not possible to take a picture which shows all the quilt, but here are the pictures per artist.

New circles

It is some time ago that I posted a circle quilt, but here is my latest:

I used a mixture of commercial and hand dyed fabrics for it. Circles are hand drawn, which explains why they are not exacty round :-) .
